⛰The POWDER HIGHWAY Is Where It’s AT For Skiers And Snowboarders!⛰
You can do so much more than ski on this road trip through some of New Zealand’s top snowfields. We’re talking quiet villages, gentle hot springs and breath-taking vistas…
Whether you’re a seasoned shredder or a beginner skier, the Powder Highway gives you a taste of the variety that New Zealand has to offer holiday makers in Winter.
Starting at Christchurch, travel 2hrs through alpine roads to get to Mt. Hutt. Not only is this an award-winning ski resort, but it also boasts such great views that they run sightseeing tours atop their ski-lifts.
Next, head down the mountain and try Lake Tekapo’s stargazing experience. You’ll discover ancient mountains as the night sky shines off the deep turquoise waters. Continue south to find Mt. Cook. Here you can explore the Tasman Glacier on foot, by boat or in a helicopter. And if you’ve got the skills, try skiing down it!
Lastly, journey across pristine lakes, valleys and mountainous passes towards Queenstown and you’ll arrive at Treble Cone, the largest ski area in the South Island. For skiers, it offers a 700m vertical, but for everyone else, you can enjoy the high-altitude eateries!
